Keurig has a new machine out (the Vue System), and are leveraging social networking to help promote this. They’re taking applications for free Keurig House Parties. They provide the machine, coffee, etc, you provide the people. Sounds a bit like Tupperware. Note though that this new Vue system isn’t compatible with current K-cups.
Half price drinks at Starbucks
From now through Wednesday, 3/14, if you buy a full priced espresso drink before 11:00AM and bring your receipt back after 2:00PM that same day, you can get half off any espresso beverage. Not a fantastic deal, but if you’re going to be doing this anyway you might as well save a couple bucks. Details can be found over at Starbucks’ website.
Hottop Roaster Repair
I’ve long been an avid home roaster, with my latest machine being a Hottop from Sweet Maria’s. Problem is, it broke.
That’s the bad news. The motor just can’t drive the drum anymore, and it makes a clicking sound that suggest a broken gear tooth. The good news is that it was still under warranty, and Hottop’s customer service has been great. While I could have sent the roaster in for repair, they offered to send me the motor immediately and let me swap it out. While some people may not prefer that option, it saved me the hassle and expense of shipping the roaster in for repair. Very nice of them to do that. The new motor is now installed, I just need to reattach all the various panels and test it out. I can’t wait to be enjoying fresh roasted coffee again…having to buy preroasted beans has just helped remind me of how much better freshly roasted coffee is!
Ski-thru Starbucks
I love skiing, but let’s face it…sometimes it can get really cold up on the mountain, and without my afternoon coffee, the headaches creep in. Sure, you can take off your skiis and head inside for a break, but that’s taking away from valuable time on the slopes. Skiers at Squaw Valley now have the ultimate solution, a Starbucks with an outside window they can ski up to to get their drinks. Awesome.
Nice video of this over at CNN.
Coffee Flakes
Woo hoo! Coffee-covered corn flakes! Yes, that’s right….Riega Foods takes corn flakes and coats them with coffee, for a fantastic breakfast treat! Don’t expect to get a caffeine fix from this as there’s little of that in there, but for sheer culinary enjoyment, it’s great! Riega’s website has a list of grocery store chains that might be carrying this, and unfortunately, the list is rather small as you might expect.
Free Coffee!
The only thing better than coffee is, FREE COFFEE! How? Some of my favorite coffee shops offer free coffee on your birthday, and here’s how:
