Another source for green beans
I’ve been thrilled with ordering unroasted coffee beans from Sweet Marias, but options are always a good thing and I’ve come across another green bean supplier in California, The Unroasted Coffee Co, based out of San Francisco. They sell exclusively organic coffee, much of it shade-grown and/or Fair Trade certified.
Reducing acrylamide in coffee affects flavor and antioxidants
Acrylamide? It’s bad stuff, as one might guess by the sinister name. Acrylamide is a carcinogenic byproduct of baking, roasting, frying, or toasting starchy foods. Newhall Coffee Roasting sending six *tons* of coffee to US troops!
The Newhall Coffee Roasting Company is generously donating six tons of coffee to troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. This makes me think of how instant coffee was developed for soldiers during World War II…wow, look how far we’ve come!
