My wife got me an iRoast2 for my birthday last fall. I’ve since used it half a dozen times or so, and am getting used to its programming and roasting style. The results are really good, I still need to tweak temperatures but I’m please with what I’m seeing so far. The only downside is that, with the noise it makes, I’m having a hard time hearing when the beans are cracking, especially on the second crack. Coming soon to this website will be a database I’ve been building of the roasting parameters used in each batch of coffee I’m making, hopefully this information will be helpful to others starting out with an iRoast! So far, my favorite green bean has been the Liquid Amber Espresso Blend from Sweet Marias.

Well, more specifically, an article at CNN states that coffee reduces liver risk. Not that I need any more reasons to drink coffee, but hey, it takes away any incentive I have to kick this caffeine habit! It should be noted that it’s really only reducing the risk of liver disease in those already at risk for it (those who drink too much alcohol, are overweight, or have too much iron in their blood). (EDIT - the original link at cnn.com no longer works; I found a similar article here.

Man, I thought this was a joke at first. Coke is adding coffee to their cola, and calling the new mix Coke Blak (looks too much like ‘Blah’ to me). Of course, since I drink coke, and am addicted to coffee, I’ll be trying some Blak sooner or later. Read more about it over at Yahoo.
